I was sitting outside the new apartment last night, looking around the scenery of this new neighborhood in my old home town. The day had been one of my harder days, days when I felt so out of my wits that I couldn’t think straight, or perhaps thinking about one thing in particular that has been circling around my brain for the past few weeks. I don’t know what it is about turning 30, but this milestone of mine had me all in a frenzy for an entire month straight. A strong, successful, independent woman such as myself should have all her shit together by now.
But funny things happen when you turn 30. You realize this thing called life is ever more a daily adventure, and you may not be able to do certain things that you once used to do, particularly for me this means staying up late at night. I have had a long bout of sleep issues for the past 2 years, and the level of exhaustion I felt Sunday after working too hard again caught up with me.
I have gone through an extreme amount of change in a matter of weeks. I hit a new decade. I moved back home. I launched a very successful marketing campaign that nearly got me all the private clients I could have asked for in Greensburg. I worked my little butt off, and I think I can honestly say it was too much. The balancing act of my life during the month of my move was NOT the best of the best. In fact, I realized I’m still growing into this entire new business line of mine, and I don’t always have my shit together.
Then that stupid thought popped into my mind.
“Is this all worth it?”
Taking risks to further your career is invigorating , but equally stressful. More so, moving on top of that happens to be one of the top 5 stressors you’ll experience in a lifetime. In creeped the self doubt. In creeped the fear. In creeped the freak out mode, until of course I stared down at my very own wrist, noticing the word etched in my spartan wrist band.
“Unbreakable”
We all feel overwhelmed from time to time, and when you’re just starting out new habits, be they in business, your nutrition, fitness routines, or anything else, self doubt can derail you before you even have a chance to succeed. It is ever more important then to not just stay motivated, but to also continue taking the steps you need to take to reap the rewards of a healthy mind, body and career even when you feel like you can’t keep going. No matter the struggles you have faced, the pain you experienced, no matter how many times you may have failed before, you can be rest assured that by simply taking the steps in the right direction will make you more and more unbreakable each day.
For me, being unbreakable means I get my 8 hours of sleep a night, that I crush my task list for my business daily, that i keep writing in the chunks that I can write, and that I keep my body as healthy as I can be without poisoning it from too much stress. Life back home is definitely way better than ever, and I seriously cannot wait to share that story of triumph with you all very soon. Stay tuned!
What about you? What makes you unbreakable? How do you increase your resilience daily?
