Over the weekend I was asked about protein supplements and what I personally use for a quick meal on the go or for my own post work out recovery. I wanted to take some time today to discuss my top two picks with it comes to protein formulas and why these two are best suited for people with certain dietary concerns and nutritional needs. One of my protein picks is 100% plant based while the other is a little more primal friendly. I have used both of these formulas personally and have experienced great results in terms of my body composition and overall workout recovery. So, without further adieu, lets get down to business.
Protein Formula #1: Formulx Whey Protein
Formulx caught my eye not too long ago via instagram as I noticed that this protein was a) a grassfed protein and b) was Pittsburgh themed ;). All joking aside though, I decided to invest in a supply of the product and was totally blown away by the formula. First off, Formulx has arguably the highest ratio of naturally occurring amino acids due to it being a grass fed protein source. Secondly, Formulx is a whey protein isolate that is cold pressed to preserve the highest, biologically significant protein for consumption. Formulx is also sweetened with Stevia and Birchwood Xylitol . Both are all-natural and very low on the glycemic index which helps regulate healthy blood sugar levels in adults. It is soy free too, and contains not a trace of soy lecithin. That’s important if a) you have a soy allergy and b) have thyroid issues. There is a ton of information out there about how soy protein wreaks havoc on your hormones. For more information on that, read this article. Last but not least, Formulx has digestive enzymes in it to help breakdown the protein source and avoid common problems associated with whey protein (namely gas and bloating). Having used this product now consistently, I can tell you that this protein has really cut down on post workout soreness and also leaves me feeling refreshed and ready for handling more clients throughout the day. It mixes well, tastes amazing, and has the highest ratio of Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA’s) in any whey protein I have ever seen. Protein Formula #2: Dales Raw Protein
If you have sworn off all traces of dairy or are vegetarian or vegan, then Dale’s Raw Protein is a formula you simply must check out! Dale’s Raw Protein is free of whey, soy, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish, peanuts and treenuts. The sources of protein come from hemp, pea, and organic rice protein, all of which are gluten free. Dale’s Raw Protein also has the highest amount of BCAA’s I have seen in a plant based protein formula, which I find very interesting considering the negative stigma behind plant based proteins being inferior to whey protein formulas. For a comprehensive breakdown of the BCAA’s in Dale’s Raw Protein, click this link. Like Formulx, Dale’s Raw Protein is cold-pressed to preserve the highest quality and most bio-available protein for human consumption. It also contains digestive enzymes to aid in rapid absorption of the protein while cutting down on any issues with gas and bloating. In my own personal experience, I can tell you that Dale’s Raw Protein will make for some incredibly rich, thick and delicious post workout shakes or meals on the go. I have been known to make my own raw vegan friendly shakes with Dale’s Raw Protein that fuel me up for the day or refuel you after a grueling training day. Simply put, Dale’s Raw Protein is the best plant based protein out there and is perfect for someone who may have more strict dietary guidelines to follow. Pick up a supply of Dale’s Raw Protein today! Dale’s Raw Food bars are also a great go to snack as well. Just saying!
That sums up today’s blog post on the top two protein formulas you can choose for your specific nutritional and training needs!
