If you have ever struggled with knee pain and have failed to get the results you are looking for because pain was keeping you from reaching your goals, folks, this blog post is for you!
This week I have been invited to participate in an amazing podcast called “Knees for Life”, which is sponsored by Bill Parravano, the Knee Pain Guru. Bill and I have become great friends over the years and have teamed up for a great discussion that will be launched this Friday. The podcast is designed to help anyone interested in getting out of knee pain for good. We will be talking about everything from mobility drills, strength exercises, and unique breathing techniques to open up your body to gain the athletic performance you always dreamed of reaching.
With that being said, I figured I’d give you all my own background with getting out of pain. All throughout my high school years, I had played a great deal of basketball that put a lot of stress on my knee. The jump training, sprint sessions, and overall running had put a lot of demands on my joints over the years. When I finally decided to get started with an exercise routine in college, I found myself struggling to keep up with a lot of popular routines. My knees didn’t want to deal with it, and at one point after forcing myself to do too much, I succumbed to a knee injury that left me completely unable to function at my peak. I had met with a a physical therapist who got me to strengthen my leg muscles around my knee, but I still continued to suffer with joint pain long after the incident. It was frustrating to say the least. After failing to get the results I so longed for, I decided to take matters into my own hands and search for a solution for myself.
I found Bill Parravano online and decided to get involved with his one-on-one coaching. Bill actually had been involved in a horrendous skiing accident that had dislocated his knee twice. He suffered from a ton of pain and went from therapy session after therapy session to get his body to function better, but nothing worked. With the help of some of his Russian Martial Arts instructors and countless hours studying nutrition and mobility drills, Bill was able to regain control of his body and eliminate his pain. When I was being coached by Bill, we covered everything from diet, exercising, water intake, and breathing techniques to help me get on the road towards my fitness goals. Within 4 months, I was able to get into Kettlebell training, and now, years later, I am an RKC. How cool is that? This just goes to show you that, even when injured and in pain, you truly can work around the problem by working with a professional who knows how to overcome injury and pain themselves.
Perhaps one of the most interesting drills I did with Bill was the “knee walking drill”. By doing this drill, you are actually able to break down scar tissue in your knee and thicken the tendons in your knee. This will will add to overall stability and strength in the knee itself. NEAT! Check out Bill’s video below to see how to complete this drill. You will want to spend about 5 minutes a day doing this drill for maximum benefit.
On Friday, I will be on the air with Bill Parravano’s podcast, Knees for Life! Details can be found by visiting The Knee Pain Guru website. Hope you all can tune in! The show will start at 10 am Eastern Standard Time! That’s it for today everyone! Remember to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
